How long does it take to play the game?

Length of game-In football time its 60 minutes which consists of four fifteen minute quarters. Actual time it takes to play the game is just over three hours unless there’s overtime (game is tied at the end of four quarters).  It takes over three hours because there are times when the clock stops (to be discussed in another class). The clock also stops for television commercials because that is how the NFL makes a great portion of the money they use to pay players salaries. The clock stops for two minutes between the first and second quarter and the third and fourth quarter. There is also a twelve minute halftime between the second and third quarters.  This is longer during playoff games and the Super Bowl (so there can be more commercials, big money here).
